Last year I spoke with Mr. James Daulton, who first discovered Cyp. kentuckiense in 1951. He told me that he met an herbalist (I think in the 1950's) who claimed to have dug, dried and sold hundreds of roots of Cyp. kentuckiense for use as a "nerve tonic." I have also heard of current day herbalists who are doing the same thing, mostly with Cyp. acaule.
