Dear Michael:

Thank you for your quick reply. Given how well the plant looked last year and how big the bud was, it had to be the warm conditions. I should have left it outside. The previous winter it had done fine in the garage, but it was a very cold winter.

I was looking inside the bud this morning with a flashlight and it doesn't look rotten, more like stunted growth, I'll keep an eye on it and make sure it stays dry.
