Antwort auf: flower bud aborted von Paul Perakos am 11 April, 2001 um 16:14:01:
The abortion of the bud in an early stage is a reaction of Cypripediums, which can be observed quite often in the first growing season after shipment. The change of growing conditions and stress during shipment are likely to be the cause for this symptom. You don't have to change your way of cultivation, just wait for next year. The abortion of the flower only occurs in the first season. Cyp species show this symptom regularly, Cyp hybrids quite seldom. Another reason can be that the plant has not completely reached flowering size and that its reserves were not sufficient for a complete development of the flower.
