How and where you plant the reginae is as or actually more important than the soil mix. You need a suitable location where the plant will get 3 hours of direct sun. The most important advice is to dig a hole that is at least a foot deep and then put in crushed stone of about 7 inches. Drainage is imperative. A quick mix for reginae is cactus potting mix, perlite, paph potting mix and turface all is equal measure.

Crushed limestone on top is a good idea and water them every evening. With the drainage you do't have to worry about them rotting out.

Good luck!
