I didn't notice before but when you potted up your reginae in your new organic free mix you had the buds poking out of the soil. It was easy to miss in the pic when I first looked. Given the structure of your mix you need cover those buds with about another half an inch of mix even before you put the bark mulch on top. The upper 1/4 of an inch of the mix will dry out pretty quickly and you don't want the roots drying out where they connect to the bud. Don't worry too much about the buds rotting anymore if you cover them. Everything should be fine now, but remember that after the growth hardens off the new roots will start at the base of the bud. If they hit dry mix the meristem will die before it has a chance to hit the moist mix just a bit further below the surface.
