The major difference between surviving in full sun or dying in full sun is if the plant has been established for 2 - 3 years. Luckily for Ron, the tree fell after the plants had a few years to settle in. With an established root system the extra sun will work miracles with bloom count. What will kill these plants is full sun in year 1 when the roots are not established. I lost a few reginae that way. If you provide some shading/ground cover, they should do fine.

By the way, let's not forget the the Cyp that can take the most sun is candidum!
