As far as I know Hawaï is tropical, isn't it? So why don't you try Paphiopedilum and, as Paul suggested, Phragmipedium?

Cypripediums get damaged when the temperature exceeds 30 degrees Celsius and growth slows down above 25 degrees Celsius for most Cyps. In my experience new emerging shoots require temperatures below 20 degrees Celsius to develop properly.
