A fellow orchid enthusiast sent me pictures from the natural habitat of Cyp. kentuckiense in Arkansas, USA. He told me that in comparison to the habitats of Cyp. parviflorum and pubescens, Cyp. kentuckiense seems to prefer more shade. It  grows on clayey to sandy dense soil near streams which has been washed there by occasional floodings (you may note the mud on the lower leaves of the plants). The pH of the soil is 5-6. Summers are hotter and winters milder than for Cyp. parviflorum and pubescens.

The second picture shows an extraordinary flower with dots on the lip.
