If you don't have any experience with garden orchids then I would recommend to start with Dactylorhiza hybrids. They are available in several garden centers. Cypripediums are more sensitive to mistakes in culture than Dactylorhizas.
If you want to try Cypripediums then the hybrids are much more robust than wild species. Among Cyp hybrids the most vigorous type is 'Gisela'. That is the reason why it is so widespread.
Among the wild species I made the experience that C. formosanum is quite easy. But the decisive point is to receive a healthy rhizome to start with. This can only be guaranteed if you obtain a division from a good plant in culture. A healthy rhizome with undamaged roots is the most important point at the beginning of any Cyp cultivation.
Good luck with your orchids
